Ebony Dashiell-Aje, PhD

Executive Director & Head of Patient-Centered Outcomes Science at BioMarin

Ebony Dashiell-Aje, PhD is a leading expert in patient-centered outcomes research, including clinical outcome assessment (COA) and digital health technology development and optimization, measurement science, clinical research endpoint strategy, and patient engagement. Currently, she serves as the Executive Director & Head of Patient-Centered Outcomes Science at BioMarin, where she has held multiple leadership roles since 2020. 

Previously, Dr. Dashiell-Aje served in the Division of Clinical Outcome Assessment (DCOA) in the Office of New Drugs at FDA as a scientific lead and consultant to CDER, CBER, and CDRH and was a key player in shaping patient-focused drug development (PFDD) policy efforts. In addition, she has served as expert consultant to both pharmaceutical industry and federal government clients. As a health outcomes researcher and methodologist, Dr. Dashiell-Aje is driven by her passion for public health and promoting patient-focused medical product development and clinical care. Her research expertise has significantly contributed to evidence-based solutions and has helped shape health policy across academic, consulting, and regulatory environments. 

Dr. Dashiell-Aje holds a PhD in Human Development from the University of Maryland, College Park. Previously, she served as an Advisory Board Member for the Foundation to Advance Vascular Cures from 2019 to 2020 and is now joining the Board of Directors, bringing her expertise and experience back to support our mission once again.
