PAD Awareness: Stories That Drive Change
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) affects millions of people in the United States. Yet despite its prevalence, PAD often goes undetected or misdiagnosed, particularly in communities that face systemic barriers to care. The Foundation to Advance Vascular Cures is proud to share the PAD Awareness Video Series: an initiative focused on amplifying patient voices and expert perspectives to inform, educate, and inspire change.
This four-part series includes:
Ralph, a patient with PAD whose story emphasizes the importance of early detection and the personal toll of delayed care.
Kim, a nurse whose mother was diagnosed with PAD, who shares the challenges she faced in recognizing the signs, pursuing an accurate diagnosis, and advocating for appropriate care within the healthcare system.
Mary, a patient living with PAD, who reflects on her experience managing chronic symptoms and the impact of finding the right treatment team after years of uncertainty.
Dr. Leigh Ann O’Banion, a practicing vascular surgeon, who offers a clinical viewpoint on how communication, early screening, and collaborative models of care can improve outcomes and reduce disparities.
