Foundation to Advance Vascular Cures Welcomes Kim Campbell to Advisory Board

PRESS RELEASE

Redwood City, CA – The Foundation to Advance Vascular Cures is proud to announce the addition of Kim Campbell to its distinguished Advisory Board. Kim’s personal journey with peripheral artery disease (PAD) and her dedication to advocacy, education and health equity positions her as a pivotal figure on the board.

Hailing from Greenville, Mississippi, Kim’s advocacy for PAD awareness stems from her mother, Gertrude Campbell's battle with the disease. Gertrude's late PAD diagnosis culminated in the amputation of both her legs and could have been mitigated with earlier detection. Gertrude advocated for awareness, prevention and screening, including speaking before Congress. In honor of Gertrude’s indomitable spirit and advocacy, our Foundation established the "Gertrude Campbell Vascular Hero Award.”

On the advisory board, Kim aims to spread awareness about the importance of early detection and education in PAD. She brings knowledge from her nursing background and a commitment to eliminating racial disparities in PAD patient outcomes, providing invaluable insights into the difficulties faced by patients and their families, particularly those from minoritized populations.

“We are confident that Kim’s powerful commitment and impassioned voice for change will play a pivotal role in advancing our Foundation's mission to improve vascular health for all," stated Isabel Bjork, CEO of the Foundation to Advance Vascular Cures. "Her unique perspective promises to further align research and education with the real needs of PAD patients and their families. We are honored that she has chosen to join us.”
