Vascular Cures launched the Vascular Cures Research Network (VCRN) in 2011 to bring together world-class experts to collect blood and DNA samples from thousands of patients, conduct joint projects and share research results. These samples will create the Stoney Vascular Biobank, the first national vascular biobank.
We've launched at two sites—UCSF and the San Francisco VA Medical Center. The goal by the end of 2016 is to enroll world-class vascular specialists at 10 institutions nationwide who will collect biological samples and data from at least 2000 patients.
The infrastructure is already in place. Vascular Cures developed a custom database for clinical and research data with Remedy Informatics. We have an extraordinary Scientific Advisory Board that includes leaders from multiple disciplines who provide the research leadership and strategy for VCRN. Biorepositories have been established at Rutgers Cell and DNA Repository and CVPath, a nonprofit established by a world-renowned cardiovascular researcher.
