Founded nearly 30 years ago, Vascular Cures began by funding individual research projects of vascular surgeons to develop innovative treatments for vascular disease. Now, Vascular Cures is the leading research organization focused entirely on finding new treatments and cures for vascular disease. In the last 15 years, we’ve built a unique platform for medical innovation through our major programs:
- Our Wylie Scholar Program, which started in 1996, funds promising surgeon-scientists who bring the challenges of their clinical practice to the process of researching new treatments.
- The multi-disciplinary Laboratory for Accelerated Vascular Research at UCSF, which was established in 2000 by Vascular Cures and the Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation, has yielded important results for patients through research in both basic disease biology and medical device technology.
- In 2010, we formed the Vascular Cures Research Network, the first national vascular disease research consortium, and began building a national vascular biobank. This collaborative team of world class investigators and institutions is sharing resources, information and results in order to substantially accelerate the development of new drugs, technologies and predictive tools for vascular disease. Our initial project is focused on peripheral vascular disease. Find out why we chose this project.
