CIRCULATE! A Benefit to Support Vascular Research

circulate_symbol_resizedCIRCULATE!, the annual Vascular Cures gala, was a wonderful success - raising over $90,000 for vital vascular research. Guests enjoyed an elegant evening at the beautiful Olympic Club, home of the 2012 U.S. Open, in support of research to develop breakthrough treatments for vascular disease.

The festivities included a silent and live auction, exquisite wines and dinner. In addition, we honored some of the most outstanding vascular specialists in the world.

Funds raised from this event will go toward crucial and innnovative research, including our latest initiative to develop personalized treatments that prevent disability and death from vascular disease.

Thanks for joining us at the African American Community Health Advisory Council’s Soul Stroll on Saturday, May 21st at Coyote Point. What a great day - marvelous music, awesome activities and fabulous prizes complemented a fun-filled walk to promote physical activity and good nutrition! Bonnie St. John, multimedal paralympic skier, author and businesswoman, led the way while people walked, danced, skipped, hula-hooped and juggled. Participants flocked to our booth to get their very own Vascular Cures' stress ball and learn how to prevent vascular disease. We had a great time - hope to see you there next year!

Kirk Douglas Joins Vascular Cures at the Kohl Mansion

Kirk DouglasScreen-legend Kirk Douglas and his wife, Ann, joined Vascular Cures for an exclusive evening at the Kohl Mansion. Mr. Douglas rose from being "the ragman's son" (the name of his best-selling 1988 autobiography) of Russian-Jewish ancestry to becoming a bona fide superstar. Born Issur Danielovitch Demsky in a ghetto in Amsterdam, New York, Mr. Douglas found a passion for acting that eventually earned him #17 on the American Film Institute list of "50 Greatest Screen Legends." Starring in iconic movies such as "The Bad and the Beautiful", "Paths of Glory", and "Spartacus", he has earned a constellation of awards and has helped define the silver screen experience for generations.

The determination he showed to create a career of integrity, self-reliance and artistic excellence is mirrored in his personal life. Despite suffering a stoke in 1995 and a heart attack in 1986, Mr. Douglas continues to be active. He joined us at the beautiful Kohl mansion to raise money for vascular research because of his personal experience with vascular disease.
