"Vascular disease has huge ramifications for the entire body. If we can learn how to control or prevent it, we will save millions of lives.

-Michael S. Conte, MD, Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, UCSF

VascularCures supports innovative research conducted by doctors, who are also research scientists, to speed the development of new treatments to prevent death and disability from vascular disease. We bridge the gap between scientific discovery and human health to bring advances in medical research to patients as quickly as possible through our innovative research programs:

  • The Laboratory for Accelerated Vascular Research is a collaborative research laboratory, with doctors and scientists working side-by-side, to translate scientific discoveries in vascular disease quickly into treatments that improve human health and quality of life.
  • The Wylie Scholar Award recognizes and financially assists promising, young vascular surgeon-scientists throughout North America who are engaged in an independent research project with the potential to revolutionize how vascular diseases are treated and cured.
  • Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Initiative is the first and only national interdisciplinary research program focused on preventing and developing new treatments for PAD.
